I have considered starting this reflection for some time. Whether I continue or not remains to be seen. I find that I often start a project, only to leave it unfinished. Part of it is that what I say seems to bother people. Whether it is what I say, or the way I say it I can’t tell. My mind is like a washing machine continually churning thoughts over and over. I hope that by finally putting them down in written words and dissecting them I may finally get them out of my brain. Most of them revolve around the church, scripture, religion and related issues; although extraneous subjects which may somehow be related in my brain and may occasionally creep in. I have been concerned for some time about the state of the church (primarily Roman Catholic). But what I think may apply to many others as well. Some of what I say may be considered negative and it may well be, but it is not my wish to shake anyone’s faith or cause anyone to lose their faith. On the contrary it is my hope that by writing of my own thoughts and struggles I may be helping someone to bolster their own faith. While I will try to write in some related order, it may well in fact be the random ramblings of my thoughts as they present themselves. I may in the future have to rearrange the order in which they are presented. Much of what we know or believe we know has come to us in the form of stories. What I hope the reader finds (if these are ever read) is that these are the stories that have come out of my thoughts, ramblings, meditations, readings, joys, and frustrations. I am not a people person. I live in a world of ideals and abstracts, love math and science, worlds much devoid of feelings and yet represent for me the presence of God who I do love (although hard to tell from the way I act). I am neither a philosopher nor a theologian and can only offer my own view from the pew.
